What We Do: Refrigeration
We are in the middle of a two-month-long series answering a question we get all the time: what exactly does Memphis Ice do? August is all about the equipment we offer: ice machines, refrigeration, dispensers, and storage.
Ice may be in our name, but refrigeration is just as much a part of what we do at Memphis Ice. Keeping things cold, whether that is a bin of ice or a walk-in full of inventory, is what we do. Businesses across the Mid-South rely on us for both.
Built for Real Kitchens
Commercial kitchens do not run on convenience store refrigerators, they need equipment built for the pace and demands of daily service. That is why we carry a range of refrigeration options designed specifically for high-volume, high-pressure environments.
Chef bases are a great example. They combine refrigerated storage with a sturdy work surface on top, often positioned right under a range, giving cooks quick access to ingredients without wasting valuable kitchen real estate. Open top prep tables serve a similar purpose, keeping ingredients cold and within arm’s reach during service, while pizza prep stations and sandwich prep stations are built around the specific workflow of those cuisines, with pans and toppings organized for speed and efficiency during a rush.
Storage That Works as Hard as You Do
Beyond prep-focused units, we also carry standard upright and undercounter refrigerators and freezers, giving businesses flexibility depending on their kitchen layout and storage needs. Undercounter units are great for tight spaces where floor space is limited, while upright models offer larger capacity for businesses that need to store more product without expanding their footprint.
Glass door refrigerators and freezers serve a slightly different purpose. Beyond just keeping product cold, they let customers or staff see what is available at a glance, which makes them a popular choice for retail settings, convenience stores, and any business where visibility matters as much as temperature control.
Not Just Kitchens
Refrigeration needs go well beyond the back of house. Draft coolers keep beverages at the right serving temperature for bars and restaurants pouring draft beer, and we work with plenty of businesses whose refrigeration needs have nothing to do with food service at all, from healthcare facilities to retail operations that need reliable, consistent cold storage.
Brands You Can Trust
We carry refrigeration equipment from names like Everest, Dukers, Westlake, True, Beverage Air, which means we can match a business with the right unit rather than trying to fit every customer into the same option. Different brands have different strengths, and part of our job is knowing which one makes sense for your specific setup.
Why the Right Fit Matters
Refrigeration failures are not just an inconvenience, they can mean lost inventory, food safety concerns, and in some cases, real financial loss. Choosing the right unit from the start, sized correctly and suited to how your business actually operates, goes a long way toward avoiding those headaches down the road.
We take the time to understand what a business needs before recommending equipment. A busy restaurant kitchen has very different needs than a small retail shop or a hospital break room, and we would rather ask a few extra questions upfront than set someone up with the wrong equipment.
We Are Here After the Sale, Too
Just like with our ice machines, a refrigeration purchase from Memphis Ice is not the end of the relationship, it is the beginning of one. Our team handles installation to make sure everything is set up correctly, and we are available for maintenance and repairs for as long as you own the equipment.
Renting Is an Option Here Too
If buying is not the right move for your business right now, many of our refrigeration units are also available for rental. This gives businesses with seasonal needs or evolving requirements a flexible way to stay stocked with reliable, working equipment without a big upfront investment.
Let’s Keep You Cold
Whether you are outfitting a new kitchen, replacing an aging unit, or just not sure what type of refrigeration makes sense for your space, we are happy to walk through the options with you.
